Spirituality and Religion Internet Marketing
It's Good Friday heading into Easter Weekend. I realize that any mention of "religion" on a blog about Internet marketing might be considered politically incorrect.
But consider that there might be lessons to be gleaned from how spirituality and religion and the Internet mix.
For most people religion and spirituality are deeply personal issues (they are for me). And that is as it should be. I believe strongly in an "attraction rather than promotion" approach. But since I write spiritual articles that find their way to the web I feel inclined to comment.
If you have an Internet site you obviously want people to find it. One of the best long term approaches is to have lots of decent content that the search engines will index and people will find with keyword searches. For Living the Solution I've done this going on about 4 years now. There isn't a marketing budget, per se, for this site, but the site is found regularly and ranks well with Google, Yahoo and others. The approach of Living the Solution is to give visitors things to "chew" on of a spiritual (and yes, Christian) nature. There's plenty of articles and reviews. I've also found that writing about songs that have lyrics that can be considered spiritual (even with so called secular artists) have created good traffic. I've written "Song Reflections" about songs by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan to Rascal Flatts. It works.
Many churches and religious organizations are looking for ways to utilize the Internet to reach out to people. There is even now an annual Internet Evangelism Day created by Gospelcom.net.
And who says politics and religion don't mix? Check out Jim Wallis' God's Politics blog sometime.
