Driving Miss D.C.
It was a gaffe when Detroit's Big Three CEO's went to Capitol Hill the first time to ask for money. No doubt you heard how they all traveled in their private jets. Plus, they had their hands out, but didn't give us a good idea of what they planned to do to fix things.
They were sent home and asked to come up with a better plan. The heads of Ford, Chrysler and General Motors are returning this week to Washington D.C. and this time they are all driving cars. They can showcase hybrid vehicles and fuel-efficiency while coming back to Congress and hopefully giving us some insight into their plans for the future of the American Automobile industry.
It was also nice to see media reports (see NY Times article) that they plan to cut bonuses and stop using expensive private jets.
Yes, to gain trust you must lead by example.
